When it rains it pours. The 3rd Annual MoonDocs Convening of socially conscious filmmakers is happening on Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd, at Robert Morris University. This year the special guest filmmaker is Eva Weber. The cost is $40 online (go here bit.ly/MoonDocs19 to register) or $50 at the door. Workshops include hands on intros to AR and VR and a seminar on video streaming platforms by Dr. Helena Vanhala.
Right after MoonDocs we will premiere WE ARE FFREE BECAUSE OF HARRIET TUBMAN at the Tull Family Theater in Sewickley at 7:30pm. The Tull is having several special programs during the opening weekend of Kasi Lemmons feature film HARRIET. We are so happy to be included in the festivities. The screening and discussion of our Haiku Film on Tubman is free to the public.. but tickets will be available soon. Also, if you are seeing HARRIET at the showing before or after 7:30pm you can also see our short film. More details to follow!
More about our film: WE ARE FREE BECAUSE OF HARRIET TUBMAN is a collaboration between filmmakers Nadine Patterson and Stephanie Malson, with poet Sonia Sanchez and bassist/composer Christian McBride. The landscapes in the film are in Philadelphia, PA and Harmony, Maryland– actual places Harriet Tubman lead dozens of Africans on their road to freedom. You can learn more about Harriet Tubman by reading this wonderful Tubman bio by Linda Clark.
