Pre-Production Trailer for THE UNKNOWN TALES OF LEWIS & MARY LATIMER is Released!

After three years of script development and one and a half years of developing the original music, the teaser trailer for the mini series about inventor Lewis Latimer and his wife Mary Latimer is here.

Producers Nadine & Marlene Patterson and Martha Richards Conley are joined by a nationally recognized team of film artists and crafts people. Parris Z. Moore is also on board as a producer and Nya Patrinos, an Emmy nominated set decorator is on board to do production design.

The mini-series is part of a new initiative from EXTENDED PLAY called BLACK HISTORICAL LIBERATION DRAMAS. The same team will also work on EPISTLES OF LOVE written and directed by Lois Moses.

Writer/Director Nadine Patterson and Writer/Producer Martha Conley received a $50,000 grant via the Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center (formerly The Tull Family Theater) to write and research the script, purchase equipment, scout locations and record part of the soundtrack. Images in the teaser include the City of Montreal Quebec, archival film material from the Library of Congress, and photograph from the book BLUEPRINT FOR CHANGE: The Life and Times of Lewis H. Latimer published by the Queens Borough Library.

Below are places we visited in 2021 in Montreal Quebec. Lewis Latimer designed the lighting system for the Windsor Train Station and for the Old City section of Montreal. Thanks to BCTQ for taking us on tour of the city.

Musician composers Lenny Seidman, Shinjoo Cho and Sonni Shine are on the soundtrack. This particular cut for the teaser showcases Tabla Master Lenny Seidman on piano and Sonni Shine on acoustic guitar. Additional support for the teaser trailer is from Scribe Video Center’s Philadelphia Independent Media Fund.
