The total budget for RECLAIMING THE LIGHT: THE LIFE & TIMES OF LEWIS LATIMER is $860,000. By supporting this crowdfunding campaign, we can show funders and sponsors that there is a need and a demand for projects that show the real history of Reconstruction from an African American perspective. After Enslavement and the end of the Civil War in 1865, Black Americans burst onto the national stage with creativity, innovation, and power to build churches, schools, hospitals, towns, businesses, newspapers, banks, you name it! Lewis Latimer and his wife Mary Latimer are an example of how through mutual aid and collective action Black Americans were able to achieve the impossible.

Thank you for watching and thank you for supporting true INDEPENDENT CINEMA!
